How to get to Zurich

By air

The primary airport for Zurich is Zurich Airport (code ZRH). Flights from everywhere to Zurich can be found on Kayak. All locations, including the conference and sprint locations and the hotels, are easily accessible by public transport.

From ZRH you should get into the city using any train going to Zurich Main Station (Zurich Hauptbahnhof). Make sure you buy a valid ticket before bording the train. The train ride to the main station takes 10 minutes and costs 3.20 CHF. For more details see get around.

If you wish to do so, you could also get a taxi, but please be aware that taxis, especially at the airport, are rather expensive in Zurich. A trip to the city center costs around 60 CHF.

By train

Zurich is connected to many European destinations by rail and has several high speed rail connections daily from and to Germany and France. Please visit SBB for schedules and prices.

From abroad

International travellers from the countries that have signed the Schengen Agreement can travel to Switzerland freely without the need for a visa. Citizens from other countries should refer to www.bfm.admin.ch to check if they need a visa and how to optain one.

Invitation letters

Visitor visa applicants may need letters or other documents indicating the purpose of their visit, evidence of funds to cover accommodation and food, and so on. The DjangoCon Europe organizers are happy to provide an invitation letter if you need one; we do suggest, however, that you check with your local embassy or consulate, as requirements differ from country to country.
